| NEWSPEAK:
"Sex-trade worker"
ORIGINAL
MEANING: A policeman assigned to fight prostitution
NEW
MEANING: Prostitute
It
is not politically correct to use denigrating words for anything
connected to sex behaviour. The word prostitute is too direct,
too real, too embarrassing.
The
newspeak version gives you the impression of positive
engagement, an occupation that deserves respect, unionized, with
regulated wages, medical checkups, government assistance,
government pension and unemployment benefits.
