Pro-life
is someone who supports and protects human life from conception
(the moment of fertilization) to natural death.
The
pro-life position excludes and denounces the killing of human
beings by abortion or euthanasia, for any reason and in all
cases (no
exceptions). The killing of a human being, even when
the unborn child is handicapped or is the result of rape, is
wrong, because a human being has an inalienable, intrinsic value
(if you believe in God, then you know that human life is created
by Him and in His image).
A
human being is defined by the two words:
a)
human: the human species, being defined by a DNA with 46
chromosomes. A
fertilized human egg (embryo) has 46 chromosomes.
b)
being: a living, growing, developing organism.
Whether
this organism is independent or supported by another individual
(the mother) does not detract from the essence.
For
example, a newly born
child is completely dependent on others (I.e.: if left alone it
would starve). This does not make a newborn any less human or
any less alive than an adult.
Euthanasia
is to kill someone who is in pain or
in terminal stage of disease in order to end their physical or
mental suffering. The
pro-life position considers euthanasia ethically wrong.
Assisted
suicide is to help someone who is in pain or
in terminal stage of disease kill themselves. The
pro-life position considers assisted suicide ethically wrong.
Potential
candidates for the Family Coalition Party are required to
complete and sign a pro-life questionnaire and they need to be
pro-life to be accepted as candidates.
