The
word "coalition" can be understood as a "coalition
of families", that is families coming together to
engage in political action with a common objective: the defense
of the family against attack from other societal forces.
However,
the Family Coalition Party is more than that: it is a
coalition of political forces and people who embrace reform and
new ideas wisely, without falling into extreme policies and
ideologies:
-
Social conservatives, who were initially squeezed
out of the NDP, then the Liberals and now are rejected by the
PCs, because of the “red shift” (a tendency of all political
parties to move towards the left).
-
People who believe governments should prioritize truth,
justice and compassion towards human beings, in
accordance with Christian principles, over materialistic
concerns. These people do not have a “Christian” party to
vote for in Ontario, and sometimes think that the parties of the
left could deliver on justice and compassion. However, they are
discouraged by other policies of these parties, especially with
regards to the truth.
-
People who tend to be against excessive government
intervention, which are normally attracted to the
Libertarian or Freedom parties. These people, originally
Liberal, are against the current trend of the Liberal party to
increase taxes and government. At the same time they do not like
the extremes of the Libertarians, such as their policy to
liberalize addictive drugs.
Not all libertarians are anti-Christians or atheists. Those who
understand that not all Christians are government
interventionists find their place with the FCP. We understand
the role of government as limited to defending the fundamental
human rights of life, freedom and ownership of property.
-
People who value fiscal responsibility, and people
who think we pay too much taxes, These do not like the tax and
spend policies of the parties of the left, but currently are
also turned off by the PC leadership and policies. We understand
that there is an optimum
in the amount of government (including government spending for
social programs) society needs.
-
People who think that politicians are corrupted and
crooks, no matter who is in power. We can regain the trust
of these people with the FCP Contract with Ontario,
which lists the Truth and Honesty as primary objectives for
government.
-
People who think we must be stewards of the
environment for next generations. (I repeat: for next
generations, not for “the Earth”) These are people who value
creation, but believe that human life must have priority over
other species. Some of these people may have seen the Green as
the party of choice, but they reject the Green party's left-wing
baggage on economic and social issues.
